On Tuesday 14th May 2024, the Federal Government announced a plan to extend the Energy Bill Relief Fund for another year (2024-25) and provide an electricity rebate to all Australian residential households and small businesses, including Embedded Network customers to ease cost of living pressures.
Initially, the Federal Government advised that the rebate payment would start being applied to customers’ electricity accounts from 1st July 2024. However, this date has changed:
- For households and small businesses in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Victoria in an embedded network with an active electricity account during 2024- 25 will receive the $300 household and $325 small business bill relief payments. However, the eligibility rules and payment dates are yet to be finalised by the various states.
- For households and small businesses in Queensland in an embedded network, the eligibility date for the payment is 1st July 2024. The lumpsum payment of $300 for households and $325 for eligible small businesses will be applied by 31st July 2024 and reflected in the next bill cycle.
